Smelt Festival — May 2-3, 2008 Along the Lewiston Waterfront
Nestled
along the scenic Niagara River, the Village of Lewiston will celebrate
one of its most famous natural resources; the smelt. The New York
State Department of Environmental Conservation deemed Lewiston as
one of the best places in the nation for Smelt Dipping. On May 2nd
beginning at 6 pm The Niagara River Anglers and the Lower Niagara
River Region Chamber of Commerce will batter and fry hundreds of
pounds of smelt at the Lewiston Waterfront. The adjacent Silo Restaurant
will serve up chowder, beer, WNY’s Famous Beef on Weck and
more. Live music featuring " The Carl Filbert Band". On Friday night come
and see a real live smelt queen add to the fish fun. Area restaurants
along the Village’s main street will offer their own culinary
version of smelt from May 2– May 4. Fish flags will identify
participating restaurants.
New This Year!!! Have'nt had enough smelt yet? On Saturday night May 3rd the festival continues, come and rock out to "Barb Wire" while you sit by the river. Lewiston never smelt so good!!!
10 Mile Garage and Sidewalk Sale —

participate in a community wide garage sale extending through Lewiston,

A charming country festival at St. John’s Episcopal Church,
one of Youngstown’s most historic sites. Entertainment, raffles,
church tours and the best homemade strawberry shortcake that will
ever cross your lips!! 12 Noon – 5 pm both days. Main Street
@ Chestnut in Youngstown.
Hosted
by the Lewiston Garden Club, this home show for casual and avid
gardeners will include activities and displays. Vendors will host
booths along Center Street featuring products, decorating ideas,
demonstrations and more….all associated with the summer pastime
of gardening and outdoor entertaining.

The
Rotary Club of Niagara County Central will feature an old-fashioned
country fair and craft show at the Sanborn Fire Company Grounds
located on Buffalo Street (Route 429). The event includes a petting
zoo, food, a car show, music, a chainsaw artists and more than 100
crafters. Something for the whole family!!
The Niagara Falls Country is host to the Porter Cup, one of the
top amateur golf tournaments in the world. Through the years, it
has hosted such PGA greats as Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Davis
Love III and other notables. Hundreds of others have perfected their
skills at this world-class event.
Sanborn-Lewiston Historical Farm Museum Festival—
August 16 - 17, 2008
This 4th annual festival will be held at the Sanborn-Lewiston
Farm Museum located at 2660 Saunders Settlement Road in Sanborn,
New York from 10 am to 5 pm with a rain date of Sept. 2. The farm
museum in the 100-year old barn will be open for viewing of carriages
and other artifacts from the turn of the century. On the grounds
there will be a Flea Market, Classic Car Cruise, Antique Engine
& Tractor Exhibits, Petting Zoo, Food, Music and Fun for the
whole family. Admission is free. Bring a lawn and friend.

Lewiston Art Council will present their 31th Annual prestigious
two-day art festival along Center Street in Historic Lewiston featuring
more than 150 exceptional artists from the USA and Canada. On Saturday,
watch the chalk fly when teams of talented high school artists create
their spectacular chalk murals on Fifth Street. Continuous entertainment,
food vendors and street performers.
Historic Lewiston Jazz Festival — August

Treat yourself to a slice of Americana during the Youngstown Firemen’s
Field Days at Veterans Park in the Village of Youngstown just off
Main Street. Thrilling rides on a giant mid-way, a food festival,
car show, craft show, the traditional beer tent and games of chance,
plus an awesome all-American parade down Main Street to the Fire
Hall grounds.
This is Niagara County’s oldest and largest event!! An old
fashioned festival complete with a parade, peach shortcake, great
carnival food, entertainment and a midway of exciting rides at Academy
Park in Historic Lewiston. Admission is free.

Lewiston Harvest Festival — September

More
than 100 of New York State’s finest craft artists will be
featured in the 25th Annual Outdoor Craft Show along Center Street
in Historic Lewiston. 10 am – 5 pm both days. Continuous entertainment
throughout the weekend. Samplings of wine and culinary delights
are added attractions that keep craft lovers coming back year after
year.
Free
family fun is in store at the 21st annual Wildlife Festival at the
Niagara Power Project’s Power Vista. The event will feature
live birds of prey, old and new world primates, reptiles and exotic
animal presentations by renowned wildlife naturalists.
Visitors of all ages will have the opportunity to experience hunting
and fishing adventures provided by conservation educators and participate
in a variety of hands-on, interactive, family-themed activities
throughout the entire weekend. 10 am – 5 pm, both days.

Hosted by the Town of Porter, the Ransomville Business and Professional
Association and the Lower Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce
As
you stroll the fairgrounds, you can sample a variety of cabbage
inspired dishes served up by our area restaurants. There’s
plenty for the kids to do including a Fun Run, a Petting Zoo, Pony
Rides, a Bounce House, Pumpkin Painting, A Farmer’s Market
and a Cabbage Toss Competition.
Come early and stay late but DO NOT miss the Cabbage Leaf Costume
Contest. Town notables will model the latest fashions all made out
of cabbage leaves. Whether you’re 2 or 82, you can join in
the fun. Pre-registration is necessary. New this year!! A parade
of hats made out of, you guessed, cabbage leaves!!! Enter our Cabbage
Recipe Contest. Continuous music throughout the day and so much

October 10-31, artistic interpretations of Scarecrows will welcome
and enchant visitors along the main streets of our four quaint communities.

take away homemade treats from a church bizarre. What ever you decide,
you’re sure to “fall for the river region”.
Visit Historic Sanborn for a day of Antique Shopping and
Wine Tasting. This event will be held from 11 am – 5
pm at Firemen’s Park adjacent to the Sanborn Fire Company
on Buffalo Street (Route 429). There will be musical entertainment
and food.

Christmas In the Village and
Historic Home Tour — December 6 - 7, 2008
Come
celebrate Christmas the old fashioned way, with carriage rides,
boutique shopping carolers, roasted chestnuts, a parade, outdoor
entertainment and complimentary refreshments served by our businesses.
Our historic village is always dressed for the holidays with thousands
of Christmas lights and individually decorated windows. Traditional
Christmas greens and swags add to the Village charm. One of the
highlights of the festival is the Lewiston Historic Society’s
Tour of Homes that offers area residents and visitors an opportunity
to visit Lewiston’s most historic homes that have been decorated
for the holiday season by some of New York’s most accomplished
interior designers.

Come to the Life-size Ice Bar and Wine Tasting
WNY Sculptors Steve Guagliardi and Joseph Lezama will carve
a life-size ice bar offsite and feature it on Center Street
in front of the Village Vineyard and Wine Tours located at
467 Center Street. The Niagara Wine Trail USA is the sponsor
of this exhibit and will offer complimentary wine tastings
Saturday and Sunday beginning at 12 noon.
Watch the masters at work when the organization will also
sponsor an ice carving demonstration on Saturday at the intersection
of Niagara Street and Center Street beginning at 1 pm.
